A moment of vulnerability here as a I announce that I have started a Substack . I am deeply anxious about putting out my thoughts out there like this, but I think this is a new way for me and for my social media world... it's a long write-up but I'd love to have you read it (constructive feedback welcome).
"Why am I doing this? What are we doing here? I guess this has something to do with my lack of interest in social media anymore. Although, I am a bit of a hypocrite about that: I love social media, but I hate what it’s become, and I hate what it has done to us. I do love seeing what my friends, colleagues, peers, and role models are up to, but I’m not particularly interested in rage-bait, political hot-takes, or short-form content-- which one might expect considering I wrote and performed a 24 hour piece twice…
What I love and miss about social media is seeing the art, the projects, the ambitions, and the dreams of my friends in real-time. Sure, there is still plenty of that, but so much of it is washed out in self-promo rather than shared enthusiasm (or adds); the hustle rather than the work itself."
